A clean invoice template that fills itself in
Most invoice templates are a Word or Excel file you have to copy, edit and convert. Here the template is built in: type your details once, add the client and the line items, and the preview shows the finished invoice. Totals, tax and the due date are worked out for you, and the PDF downloads in a second.
- Remembered details: your name, address, logo, tax or VAT ID and bank details stay in this browser for the next invoice. Nothing goes to a server.
- Numbering: New invoice counts the number up, so 2026-014 becomes 2026-015, and keeps your business details.
- Tax: one rate for the whole invoice, named the way your country does it: sales tax, VAT, GST or USt. An optional discount comes off before tax.
What to put on an invoice
Rules differ by country, but a clear invoice almost always shows who is billing whom, a unique number, the date, what was delivered with quantity and price, the tax, the total and when and how to pay. As a freelancer or small business in the EU, add your VAT ID, and for clients in another EU country their VAT ID as well, if the reverse charge applies. A short note like "Reverse charge" goes in the notes field.
A due date and full bank details are the two things that make invoices get paid faster. Clients do not have to look anything up, and a fixed date leaves no room for "I thought it was next month".
How to create an invoice
- 1Enter your business details and add your logo. They stay on this device for next time.
- 2Add the client, the invoice number, the date and the payment terms, then one line per product or service with quantity and price.
- 3Set the tax rate and payment details, check the preview, and download the invoice as a PDF or print it.
Frequently asked questions
Is the invoice generator really free?
Yes. No account, no watermark and no limit on the number of invoices. The PDF is created in your browser, so there is nothing to pay for and nothing stored on our side.
Where are my business details saved?
Only in this browser, on this device, if "Remember on this device" is on. Your name, address, logo, tax ID and payment details come back the next time you open the page, and the invoice number counts up when you start a new invoice. Turn the switch off, or use Clear everything, to remove them.
What must an invoice include?
It depends on the country. Usually: your name and address, the client’s name and address, a unique invoice number, the invoice date, a description of the goods or services with quantities and prices, the tax rate and tax amount, and the total. In the EU you also need your VAT ID or tax number, and for some services the date of delivery. Check the rules for your country or ask a tax advisor.
Can I write the invoice in German?
Yes. Switch the language to Deutsch and every label on the invoice changes, from Rechnung and Rechnungsnr. to Gesamtbetrag, with German number and date formats. Your own texts stay as you type them.
Why do some special characters look different in the PDF?
The PDF uses the standard Helvetica font, which covers English and Western European languages. Letters outside that set, like Polish Ł or Czech ř, are written without the accent, and emoji are left out. If you need them exactly, use Print and save as PDF from your browser instead.
