WebP to PNG

Turn WebP images you saved from the web into PNG files that open in every editor, with transparency preserved.

JPG has no transparency, so see-through parts get this color.

Your images are converted by your own browser. Nothing is uploaded.

When WebP gets in the way

WebP is great on websites but still causes friction elsewhere. Some older image editors, office suites, slide tools and upload forms do not accept it, and file previews on older systems may show a blank icon. PNG works in all of them. Because PNG is lossless and supports transparency, it is the closest match to a WebP graphic: nothing is flattened onto a background and no extra compression is added.

PNG or JPG?

Pick PNG for logos, icons, stickers, screenshots and anything with a transparent background. For photos, a PNG can get large; the WebP to JPG converter gives you a much smaller file and fills transparent areas with a color you choose. To trim the image after converting, use the image cropper, and if you need many formats at once, the WebP converter switches between WebP, JPG and PNG.

How it works

  1. 1Drop one .webp file or a whole batch on the box, or paste an image you copied.
  2. 2Your browser decodes each WebP and writes a lossless PNG in a moment.
  3. 3Save the PNG files, or download them all together as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my saved image turn out to be WebP?

Many websites serve their images as WebP to load faster. When you save such an image, you get the .webp file the site delivered, even if it once was a PNG or JPG. Converting it to PNG gives you a file that older programs open without trouble.

Is the transparent background kept?

Yes. PNG supports transparency, so a WebP logo or sticker with a see-through background stays transparent after the conversion.

Will the image lose quality?

No further quality is lost. PNG is lossless, so the PNG shows exactly what the WebP showed. The file is usually larger, because PNG does not compress as tightly.

What happens to an animated WebP?

You get a still PNG of the first frame. PNG files from this tool do not hold animation.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the WebP file and writes the PNG on your device, without sending anything to a server.
