Preview mockup of a profile grid. Not the real Instagram app.

Your posts appear here, newest first.

Drag a tile to move it, or use its arrow buttons. Numbers show the posting order: 1 is posted first and ends up lowest in the grid.

Your images stay in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded.

Plan your Instagram feed before you post

Most people see your profile grid before they follow you. A grid planner lets you try the order of your next posts and see the whole profile layout at once: which colors sit next to each other, whether two similar shots end up side by side, and how the newest posts look at the top. Drop the images, drag them around, and post them in the order the numbers show.

    • Mix close-ups and wide shots so neighboring tiles do not blur into one another.
    • Spread colors and topics across rows. A consistent aesthetic comes from a few recurring colors and edits, not from identical photos.
    • Plan in threes: every row has three tiles, so posting in sets of three keeps patterns and puzzle grids in place.
    • Check the top row: it is what a new visitor sees first, so put your strongest recent work there.

Crop safe areas for the 3:4 grid

Since early 2025, Instagram profile grids show posts as 3:4 rectangles instead of squares. The post itself can still be square, 4:5 portrait or 3:4, but the grid tile shows only a 3:4 crop of it from the center:

    • 3:4 posts, for example 1080 × 1440 pixels, fill the tile exactly. Nothing is cut off.
    • 4:5 posts, like 1080 × 1350, lose a thin strip on the left and right in the grid.
    • Square posts lose about an eighth of the width on each side, so keep text and faces in the middle.

Instagram lets you adjust the grid crop of a post in the app, so treat this preview as the default center crop. Switch to Square tiles to compare with the older layout.

How to use the Instagram Grid Preview

    1. 1Drop the photos you plan to post. Add the ones already online with "As older posts" to see the full profile.
    2. 2Drag the tiles into order, or use the arrows. Pick 3:4 or square tiles and fill in the profile header if you like.
    3. 3Download the grid as a PNG to share, or the images as a ZIP, numbered in posting order.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your browser opens the images and builds the preview on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server or to Instagram, and the order is only kept in this tab. Reload the page and it is gone, so download the ZIP or the grid image when you are happy.

Why are the tiles 3:4 and not square?

In early 2025 Instagram changed profile grids from squares to taller rectangles in a 3:4 shape. Square and 4:5 posts are cropped at the sides to fill those tiles. Switch to Square to see the older look, which some apps and tools still use.

Which way does the grid fill up?

Like a real profile: the newest post is at the top left, and every new post pushes the others one place to the right and down. The numbers on the tiles show the posting order, 1 is posted first. New images are added on top by default; choose "As older posts" to add posts that are already online below them.

What is in the ZIP file?

Your original images, unchanged, renamed with a number in posting order, like 01, 02 and 03. Upload them in that order and your profile will look like the plan.

Can I show the plan to a client?

Yes. Download the grid as one PNG image, with or without the profile header, and send it by email or chat. It shows the tiles in the shape and order you chose.
