How the wheel spinner works
Each line in your list becomes one equal slice of the wheel. When you press Spin, the tool picks the winner first, using the cryptographic random number generator in your browser, and then animates the wheel so it stops with that slice under the pointer at the top.
Because the result is decided before the animation starts, the speed and number of turns have no effect on who wins. Every entry has the same chance: one divided by the number of entries.
How to use the wheel spinner
- 1Type or paste your entries, one per line. You can add up to 100.
- 2Press Spin and wait for the wheel to stop. The winner appears below the wheel.
- 3Turn on "Remove the winner after each spin" to draw names one at a time, or shuffle the list to change the order on the wheel.
Frequently asked questions
Is the wheel really random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator before the wheel starts moving, and every entry has the same chance. The animation then simply lands on that entry.
How many entries can I add?
Up to 100 entries, one per line. Empty lines are ignored. On a full wheel the segments get thin, so long names are shortened on the wheel, but the full name always appears in the result.
Can I give one entry a better chance?
Add it on more than one line. Each line is its own segment, so an entry listed twice has twice the chance of being picked.
What does "Remove the winner after each spin" do?
After each spin, the winning line is removed from your list, so it cannot be picked again. This is handy for drawing names one by one, such as for a raffle, a speaking order or team picks.
Are my entries saved?
No. Your list lives only on this page and is not sent anywhere. Reloading the page brings back the sample names.
