Record your screen in the browser
Modern browsers can capture the screen on their own, with your permission. This page asks the browser to start that capture, records the video together with the sound you choose, and gives you the file. There is nothing to install and no account, and the video never leaves your computer unless you send it.
- Whole screen: for tutorials that switch between apps.
- One window: keeps other windows and notifications out of the video.
- A browser tab: the cleanest choice for showing a website, and the only one that records tab sound in Chrome on a Mac.
Tips for a clear recording
Close chats and turn on do not disturb before you start, so no messages pop up in the video. Make the browser or app window a little smaller than full HD if the recording is for a website or a ticket; the text stays readable and the file small. A headset microphone gives far clearer voice than the built-in one of a laptop.
How to record your screen

- 2Pick the screen, window or tab in the browser’s dialog and confirm. After the countdown, recording starts.
- 3Press Stop here or Stop sharing in the browser, watch the preview, and download the video.
Frequently asked questions
Is the screen recorder free and without a watermark?
Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no time limit set by us. The video is recorded by your browser and stays on your device until you download it.
Can I record sound from my computer?
In Chrome and Edge, tick "Share tab audio" or "Share system audio" in the sharing dialog to include the sound of a tab or of the whole system on Windows. Firefox and Safari cannot record computer sound yet. Your microphone can be added in every browser that supports screen recording.
Does it work on a phone?
No. Mobile browsers do not allow websites to record the screen. On iPhone and Android, use the screen recording built into the system, which you find in the control center or quick settings.
Which file format do I get?
MP4 where the browser can write it, which is current Chrome, Edge and Safari, otherwise WebM. Both play in modern browsers, VLC and most editors. WebM files can be converted to MP4 with free tools if a platform insists on MP4.
Are my recordings uploaded?
No. Recording, preview and download all happen in your browser. Close or reload the tab and the recordings are gone, so download the ones you want to keep.
