How area units relate
Area units are squared length units, so the conversion factor is squared too. One foot is 0.3048 m, so one square foot is 0.3048 × 0.3048 = 0.09290304 m². Multiplying square meters by 3.28 instead of 10.76 is the most common mistake.
- 1 hectare is a square of 100 × 100 m, or 10,000 m².
