A December plan with these printables

Start with the holiday planner in early November. Write down the gift budget per person first, before any shopping, and put the big dates in its December calendar: school events, travel days, the day the tree goes up and the day you host. The to-do countdown works best when every line is a task you can finish in one go, such as "order cards" instead of "cards".

Hand out the wish list around the same time, so family members can fill it in while there is still time to order. Grown-ups can add a size, a color and where to find each item; kids can draw what they would love. Copy the wishes you are going to buy into the gift list, which keeps the bought, wrapped and given status for every person.

If your family, class or office does a gift exchange, collect the Secret Santa forms first and then draw the names with the Secret Santa generator. The guide to organizing a Secret Santa covers budgets, exclusions and what to do when someone drops out.

The week before Christmas

Print the gift tags on card stock and write them while you wrap, so no present ends up without a name. For the meal, the turkey cooking time calculator gives the roasting time by weight, and the recipe scaler changes a recipe for six into one for fourteen. When several people pay for one dinner or one shared gift, the bill splitter works out who owes what.

Kids who are off school can write their letter to Santa, solve a holiday puzzle from the word search maker or maze generator, or play bingo with cards from the bingo card generator using your own holiday words.

Printing tips

Every template has a US Letter and an A4 version; the right one is picked from your browser language, and you can switch it. Print at 100% or "actual size" so cut lines and boxes keep their size. Tags, cards and the advent calendar look and hold best on card stock; the planners and lists work on plain paper. Nothing you type is sent anywhere: the PDF is made in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Are these Christmas printables really free?

Yes. All templates are free for personal use, in class and at work. There is no signup, no email form and no watermark. Please do not sell the files or upload them to other template sites; link to the page instead.

Can I type my own text before printing?

Yes. Most templates let you type names, wishes, dates or a message on the page, and the PDF is made with your text. You can also leave the fields empty and fill them in by hand.

Which paper should I use?

Plain printer paper is fine for planners, lists and letters. For gift tags, place cards, thank-you cards and the advent calendar, card stock holds its shape better. Print at 100% so the cut lines stay where they belong.

How many days are left until Christmas?

The live countdown on the days until Christmas page shows the days, hours and minutes left in your own time zone.
