Printing the weekly pages

  1. Choose the week you want to plan. The list opens on next week; pick All weeks of the year at the top of the list for a file with one page per week.
  2. Match the paper to your printer. The Letter file is 8.5 × 11 inches, the A4 file 210 × 297 mm, in the orientation you picked.
  3. Print at 100 % or actual size. Fit to page shrinks the boxes a little and makes the margins uneven.
  4. For a year in a binder, punch the pages on the left edge in portrait or on the top edge in landscape. Every side keeps a margin of 40 points, a little over half an inch.

What is on each page

The top line names the week and gives its first and last date, so a page still makes sense when it is lying on its own. Below the colored rule come the seven days, each in a box with its weekday, its date and ruled lines for appointments, calls and errands.

In portrait the days run down two columns: the first four on the left, the other three on the right. The eighth spot, under the last day, holds the Priorities box with three numbered lines. Under the days, the To do box with a checkbox on every line sits next to a Notes box with plain lines.

In landscape each day gets a tall column of its own, and Priorities, To do and Notes share a row along the bottom. This version has far more lines per day, which helps when a single day has many entries, such as a shift schedule or a school timetable.

How the weeks are counted

When the week starts on Monday, each page is titled with its ISO 8601 week number. ISO weeks run from Monday to Sunday, and week 1 is the week that contains the first Thursday of the year. Most years have 52 such weeks and some have 53, as the HTML standard's definition of weeks sets out; it states that its weeks are the same as the ISO 8601 ones. Because of that rule, the first days of January can belong to the last week of the year before. The page then reads Week 53 2026, for example, and the date range next to it shows that it runs into January 2027. The week number tool looks up the ISO week of any date.

A week that starts on Sunday does not match an ISO week, so those pages carry no number at all. They are titled with the first day instead, such as Week of Mar 14, which avoids printing a number that would point to a different week in a work calendar.

The full-year file holds every week with at least one day of the chosen year. January 1 and December 31 always have a page, and the first and last pages share a few days with the neighbouring years.

Holidays on the page

Choose a country or region and the holiday names appear in small type under the date, which turns the accent color. The data is the same as on the printable 2027 calendar, whose guide lists the sources. The day marked is the day off:

  • United States: for most federal employees, OPM treats the Friday before a Saturday holiday and the Monday after a Sunday holiday as the holiday. Private employers can handle this differently.
  • United Kingdom: when a bank holiday falls on a weekend, GOV.UK names a substitute weekday, normally the following Monday. The planner marks that substitute day, separately for England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
  • Canada and Australia: the federal general holidays and the national public holidays, as the calendar guide describes them.

A short weekly routine

Pick one fixed time for the page, such as Sunday evening or Monday before work. Copy fixed appointments into the day boxes first, then choose up to three outcomes for the Priorities box. Anything without a date goes on the To do list. During the week, tick finished tasks and jot down loose ideas under Notes. At the end, carry open tasks to the next page and cross out the ones that no longer matter.

Tools for planning the week

The meeting planner finds hours that work for people in different time zones before you write a call into a day box. To check how many working days are left until a due date, use the business days calculator. For the tasks on your list that need a stretch of quiet work, the focus timer alternates work blocks and short breaks.

Frequently asked questions

Is the weekly planner free?

Yes. Print one week or the whole year as often as you need, at home, at work or for a class. There is no signup and no watermark, only a short line with our web address at the foot of each page.

Which week numbers does the planner use?

With weeks starting on Monday, every page is titled with its ISO 8601 week number, the system the week number tool on this site shows first. A week that starts on Sunday has no ISO number, so those pages are titled by their first day, such as Week of Mar 14, and show the dates of all seven days.

Why does the full-year file start in December?

The file for a year holds every week that has at least one day of that year, so January 1 always has a page. When the year begins in the middle of a week, the first page starts in late December and the last page can run into January. That gives 53 pages, or 54 when a leap year begins on the last day of a week.

Should I choose portrait or landscape?

Portrait puts the days in two columns with five ruled lines each and sits upright in a binder. Landscape gives every day its own tall column with 17 lines on Letter and 16 on A4, which suits a desk or a wall. The priorities, to-do and notes boxes are on both versions.

Can I print a few weeks instead of the whole year?

Download the full year and enter a page range in your print dialog. Page 1 is the first week in the week list, page 2 the second and so on, so the position of a week in the list is its page number.

Why is a holiday on a Friday or Monday instead of its date?

The planner marks the day off. OPM explains that when a federal holiday falls on a Saturday, most federal employees get the Friday before, and for a Sunday holiday the Monday after. In 2027, July 4 is a Sunday, so Monday, July 5 carries Independence Day.
