Three kinds of "no account"
The tools in the table fall into three groups, and each one works a little differently:
- Websites that work logged out. Gemini, Perplexity, Lumo, GPTZero and Hugging Face Spaces let you start right away in the browser. You get part of the service; signing in unlocks the rest.
- AI built into a browser. Brave Leo, Opera AI and Comet come with the browser you install. Brave's Leo page says no account or signup is required for the free Leo experience.
- Apps that run on your computer. Jan, GPT4All, Ollama and LM Studio download open models and run them on your own hardware. Nothing to sign up for, but you need disk space and memory for the model files.
What you give up without an account
Logged-out use is a trial in most cases. The vendors' pages name what is missing:
| Tool | Without an account |
|---|---|
| Perplexity | Anonymous sessions expire after 14 days, says its help center; Pro Search and file uploads need sign-in |
| Lumo | Chats are saved only when you are signed in with a Proton account |
| Gemini | Additional features and saved activity need a Google Account |
| Hugging Face Spaces | 2 minutes of ZeroGPU time a day, against 5 minutes with a free account |
| GPTZero | Scans up to 10,000 characters; longer texts need a free account |
If you only need a quick answer, that is fine. If you want to come back to a chat next week, copy the parts you need before you close the tab.
Running AI on your own computer
Local apps are the only way to use AI with no account and no internet connection. Jan's project page calls it an alternative to ChatGPT that runs 100% offline, and LM Studio's docs say it can operate entirely offline once you have downloaded model files.
The trade-off is hardware. Models are large downloads, and bigger models need more memory. Check the system requirements first: GPT4All lists macOS Monterey 12.6 or newer and an x86-64 Linux build, and Jan lists macOS 13.6 or later and Windows 10 or later. Start with a small model, test it with your real task, then try a larger one if your computer handles it.
No account is not the same as anonymous
Without an account a service cannot link your chats to a profile, but it still receives what you type and the technical data every website gets. Leave out passwords, customer data and anything confidential, or replace names with placeholders before you paste. Read the privacy page of each tool before you rely on it for sensitive work.
Some vendors also change their rules. Microsoft's support article says sign-in is not required for the free Copilot, while the Copilot terms effective August 18, 2026 say you must be logged in with a Microsoft account. Because the two pages disagree, Copilot is not in the table.
AI tools on this site
The AI tools on Freebiefy run in your browser and need no account:
- Prompt builder and AI image prompt builder: clear prompts you can paste into any of the tools above.
- Token counter: how long a prompt or document is before you paste it.
- AI text cleaner and AI phrase finder: tidy up text you copy out of a chat.
- Background remover and image to text: AI and text recognition for images, right in the browser.
We checked every row above on the vendor's own page on the date shown. Tools whose pages did not state or clearly show that no account is needed were left out, even if they may work logged out today.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use an AI chatbot without an account?
Yes, with limits. Google says some features of the Gemini web app work without signing in, Perplexity says you can use some but not all features logged out, and Proton says you can start a Lumo chat with limited access without an account. Brave Leo and Opera AI work inside their browsers with no login.
Are my chats saved if I do not sign in?
Usually only for a short time. Perplexity says anonymous sessions expire after 14 days and cannot be recovered, and Proton says Lumo chats are saved only when you are signed in. Copy anything you want to keep before you close the tab.
Which AI tools work offline?
Local apps. Jan says it runs 100% offline, LM Studio says it can operate entirely offline once you have model files, and GPT4All and Ollama run models on your own computer. You need an internet connection once to download the app and a model.
Why is Microsoft Copilot not on the list?
Microsoft's pages disagree. A support article says sign-in is not required for the free Copilot, but the Copilot terms effective August 18, 2026 say you must be logged in with a Microsoft account. We only list tools whose official pages agree that no account is needed.
