How to print your habit tracker

  1. Pick the month, the number of rows and the paper that is in your printer. Landscape gives each day the widest column; portrait gives every habit a taller row.
  2. Type your habits into the name fields if you want them printed. A field you leave empty prints as a blank row for your own handwriting.
  3. Download the PDF and print it at 100 % or actual size, so the margins stay even and no column is cut off.
  4. Put the sheet where you will see it every day: on the fridge, next to your desk or in the front of your planner.

How to fill it in

Tick the box on the day you did the habit and leave it empty on the days you did not. A quick check at the same time every evening keeps the sheet up to date. If you like more detail, use a dash for a day you skipped on purpose, such as a rest day, so it looks different from a day you forgot.

At the end of the month, count the ticks in each row and write the number in the Done column. The lines at the bottom are for notes: why a week went off track, what helped, or a habit you want to add next month.

How many habits to track

More rows are not automatically better. Fifteen habits take a while to check every evening, and a page full of empty boxes can feel like a report card. For a first tracker, five rows with the habits you care about most are a good start; once the daily check is routine, add more on next month's sheet. Ten rows suit a mix of a few main habits and some small ones. Fifteen rows work best when most habits take a minute, like making the bed or watering the plants.

Write each habit as something you can answer with yes or no. "Read 10 pages" is easy to tick; "read more" is not.

Read the month at a glance

After two or three weeks the sheet shows patterns that are hard to notice day by day. Long runs of ticks in a row mark a habit that is settling in. Gaps that line up with the shaded weekend columns show which habits slip on Saturdays and Sundays. A whole column with almost no ticks usually points to one unusual day, like travel or a deadline, rather than a problem with any single habit. Compare the Done counts when the month is over to decide what to keep, change or drop for the next sheet.

Tools that go with the tracker

A clear number makes a row easier to tick. The water intake calculator suggests a daily amount of water for your age and sex, and the sleep cycle calculator works out a bedtime from the time you want to wake up. Steps to miles turns a daily step goal into a distance from your stride length. If one of your habits is a block of focused work, the focus timer runs work sessions and breaks in a loop.

Frequently asked questions

Is the habit tracker free?

Yes. You can print it as often as you like, for yourself, a class or a team. There is no signup, no email form and no watermark; the bottom edge carries one small line with our web address.

Do I have to type in my habits?

No. Every name field you leave empty prints as a blank row that you can fill in by hand. You can also mix both: type the habits you are sure about and keep a few rows free for later.

Why are some characters missing from my habit names?

The PDF is drawn with a plain font that covers English and most Western European letters, but no emoji and no other scripts such as Cyrillic, Greek or Chinese. Those characters are left out, a few rare accented letters print without the accent, and a note under the name fields tells you when that happens. The preview always shows the text as it will print.

Should I print it in landscape or portrait?

Landscape gives every day a wider column and larger tick boxes, so it is the easier one to fill in. Portrait makes each row taller, lets long habit names wrap onto two lines and fits upright in a binder or on a narrow fridge door. Both show the whole month on one page.

What do I write in the Done column?

At the end of the month, count the ticked boxes in a row and write the number in its Done cell. Writing it as a fraction, such as 18/31, makes months of different length easy to compare.

Can I make a tracker for a different month?

Yes. Pick any month from January 2026 to December 2028. Each PDF has the right number of days for that month, with the matching weekday letter over every day and the weekends shaded.
