Turn PDF pages into pictures

Sometimes a PDF is the wrong format: a page you want to post on social media, a slide for a presentation, a chart for a website, or a scanned document an upload form only accepts as an image. This tool draws each page of the PDF as an image, exactly as it looks, and saves it as a JPG or PNG file.

What DPI means for the image size

DPI (dots per inch) sets how many pixels each inch of the page gets. A US Letter or A4 page is about 8.5 by 11 inches, so the resolution decides the pixel size of every image:

How to convert a PDF to JPG

  1. 1Drop your PDF on the box or choose it from your device. A preview of every page appears.
  2. 2Pick JPG or PNG and the resolution. Click pages to leave them out, or type the pages you want.
  3. 3Press Convert. One page downloads as an image, several pages come as one ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions

Which resolution should I choose?

150 DPI is a good default: sharp on screens and fine for most uses. Choose 72 DPI for small previews or email, and 300 DPI for printing or when you need to zoom into small text. Higher DPI means larger images and larger files.

JPG or PNG?

JPG gives much smaller files and is the right choice for scanned pages and pages with photos. PNG is lossless, so text and line drawings stay perfectly crisp, but files are larger. For slides or documents you want to edit further, PNG is often nicer.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Click the page previews to select or deselect them, or type pages like 1-3, 7 into the field. Only the selected pages are converted. One page downloads as a single image, several pages come in one ZIP file.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Your browser opens the PDF and draws each page as an image on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for contracts, statements and anything private.

Why do some pages look different from my PDF viewer?

Rare fonts or special effects that are not embedded in the PDF may be drawn with a substitute font. Form fields are drawn the way they print. If a page looks wrong, try PNG and a higher DPI, or open the PDF in another viewer and export from there.
